Semen Testing Results for Shipped Semen: Phantom was tested at Equine Reproductive Services and the results are Volume 70.0 and Concentration 90 million/ml; percentage motility for thawed frozen semen was 45%. The motility after 24 hours using EZ main extender was 50% for cooled semen; 48 hours was 26% motility.  Morphology scores were 74% normals.

Color Genetics: Phantom has been tested by U.C. Davis and is Homogyzous for the cream dilution (Cr), Heterogyzous for Agouti (Aa) and carries a red (e), but no black gene.  He can sire smoky blacks from black based mares, as he is not Homozygous for agouti.

If you know the color markers on your mare, you can calculate the odds of your foal's color here: (Phantom would be cremello and Aa). Factor in your mare and check the results: http://www.horsetesting.com/CCalculator1.asp

What color will my foal be?
If Your Mare Is      The Foal Will Be

Bay                            Palomino, Buckskin and very rarely Smoky Black
Black                         Buckskin, Palomino, Smoky Black
Palomino                  50% Palomino 50% Cremello

Smoky Black           Smoky Black, Buckskin, Palomino, Perlino, Smoky Cream, Cremello
Cremello                   Cremello
Perlino                       Cremello, Perlino, Smoky Cream
Smoky Cream          Smoky Cream

Eyes and Skin:  Your foal from a sorrel or bay mare will NOT have blue eyes or pink skin.  Unless your mare is already a dilute (I.e. palomino or buckskin) the resulting foal cannot be a double dilute.

Grullo and Dun factors are a dilute gene independent of the cream gene. A dun will dilute to a palomino, but may carry the dun factor also, such as a dunalino or a double dilute with dun factors, dorsal, and barring, etc.

Champagne is also a separate dilute gene, independent of the cream gene. The champagne gene is associated with light brown mottling of the skin and amber eyes.

Phantom is not believed to carry a dun factor or the champagne gene.
